Julianne Patrick shares her experience in the MS in Special Education program.
[MUSIC PLAYING] JULIANNE PATRICK: I chose to attend Saint Joseph's University because Saint Joseph's University has a great reputation within the Philadelphia area for educational programs. When it comes to participating in an online program, I enjoy the flexibility that comes along with it. There are rigorous due dates and assignments and field observations that have to be completed. But you have the opportunity to do them on your own time.
When I first started the program, I was a little apprehensive about never being face-to-face with a actual professor or teacher. And it has been nothing like that. I have always e-mail access to a teacher. There is that flexibility within that, that if I have a question at 10:30 at night I can e-mail them. And nine times out of ten, you get a response right away from them.
This program has prepared me to be a better teacher. I am taking the influence that I've learned through the Special Education Program and I'm able to apply it within my classroom.
They are in the cutting edge of research and they're very research-based and research-driven which provides for the best academic circumstances for students. So I'm able to turn it into my classroom position and be a better teacher and ultimately help my students with the needs that they have.
