Lucy Ford, Ph.D.Lucy Ford, Ph.D. Director of the undergraduate Managing Human Capital major, and lead faculty for the MS in Strategic Human Resource Management program, has been nominated for the prestigious Delaware Valley HR Consultant of the Year award.

Dr. Ford was nominated for this award as a result of the work she has done through SJU’s Center for Professional Development for clients of the Erivan K. Haub School of Business. That work has involved

  • the development and delivery of servant leadership programs
  • consultation on HR issues arising from the culture change
  • data collection to drive program design and answer organizational questions.

Her consulting relationships include top companies such as Comcast, Wawa, VA Department of Transportation, Spectrum Press, and Johnson and Johnson, among others. She is a published author and has presented on a wide variety of industry topics. Dr. Ford’s extensive research is in the areas of leadership development and team leadership, with a focus on the intersection of linguistics and survey development and administration.

About the HR Award

The Delaware Valley HR award is a joint effort between Chester County Human Resource Association, Delaware County SHRM, Delaware SHRM, Greater Valley Forge HR Association, HR Association of Southern New Jersey, Philly SHRM, and Tri-State HR Management Association chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Since 2001, the award celebrates the region’s Human Resources industry and recognizes the HR professionals who demonstrate performance excellence and outstanding achievement in the field.

“I am honored to be nominated for the HR Consultant of the Year award”, said Dr. Ford. “While I have led or co-led the last couple of major engagements that I have been involved in, all the faculty on the team deserve credit for the success of our programs.”

How are award nominees selected?

Every candidate nominated for the award, first goes through a rigorous interview process with the chair of the selection committee. Then they are asked to submit descriptions of key work and two letters of recommendation, along with various supporting documents. And there we are!

“While I would love to win, I personally know some of the other nominees and it is some very stiff competition!” said Dr. Ford. “So I am very happy just to be a nominee – winning would be the icing on the cake!”

The winners in “HR Consultant of the Year”, “HR Rising Star of the Year,” and “HR Person of the Year” categories, will be announced on May 23, 2018.
