Dr. Lee W. Bewley joined the SJU MHA program as an adjunct faculty member in 2016. He is a full-time faculty member at the University of Louisville serving as Program Director for the new competency-based education (CBE) Healthcare Leadership bachelors degree program. Dr. Bewley holds joint appointments in the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences and the College of Education and Human Development. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Administration, Health Services (Strategy) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, MHA from Baylor University, and BA in Economics and Business from the Virginia Military Institute.
Dr. Bewley is a board-certified healthcare executive with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He has served as a Fellow for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Programs. Prior to joining the University of Louisville faculty, Dr. Bewley served twenty-three years in the Army Medical Department including a combat tour in Iraq leading a combat support hospital and culminating as Associate Dean of the Academy of Health Sciences Graduate School and Program Director of the Army-Baylor University MHA-MBA Program, a U.S. News Top 10 graduate healthcare management program. Dr. Bewley's research interests include leadership development and healthcare market strategy. Dr. Bewley serves on national and regional advisory boards including ACHE Regional Advisory Council and the Health Administration Press.
