Art Martin is an information technology (IT) professional with experience as an educator, business and financial analyst, project manager, and systems analyst in higher education and the pharmaceutical, telecommunication, defense and service industries.
He has been teaching mathematics and computer science for more than 30 years and has been an affiliate (adjunct) faculty member of both the Mathematics and Computer Science Departments here at Saint Joseph’s for the past 26 years. He has designed and taught courses, including business mathematics, calculus, advanced Fortran, Cobol, web design, database design and systems analysis and design, in addition to training elementary education teachers in the fundamentals of computers and their effective use in the classroom.
During his 35-year IT career, he has managed the design, development and implementation of several major databases for a global pharmaceutical company; managed the training and career development of college interns as well as a programming team responsible for the development of an online database systems; was a member of a regional Philadelphia-area leadership forum; created the cost model and master implementation schedule for a world-wide corporate email migration project; was a consultant to British Telecom's senior management; helped build and launch a subsidiary of a major telecommunications company; and taught a variety of Microsoft Software products to multiple corporate clients.
He earned an MBA degree in Finance and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, both from LaSalle University, and an associate's degree in Business Administration from Bucks County Community College.
He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, is certified in the ITIL Service Management Foundations and is a Licensed New Jersey Real Estate Agent.
He is a member of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)/Purchasing Management Association of Philadelphia (PMAP) and of the Delaware County Transportation Management Association (DCTMA) and is an avid SJU Hawks Basketball fan.
